Junior High Electives: Friday Electives are taken as pass/fail courses while all other electives are assigned numeric grades based on participation, preparedness, performances, and other course assignments.
Electives are offered every Friday from 1:15-3:10 p.m. Junior high electives encourage students to pursue interests and passions beyond the core curriculum. Our electives provide a faith-filled, safe, and positive environment for students to explore, enrich, develop and strengthen their talents and gifts from God.

Foreign Language Elective: SpanishStudents in grades 7 and 8 only take a Spanish elective. This elective is required and meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. Participation is mandatory and numeric grades are given each quarter.
Physical EducationAll 6-8 grade students will have PE once a week. PE can also be chosen as a Friday elective. Gym clothing, consisting of St. Al's school t-shirt, appropriate length athletic shorts, and rubber soled tennis shoes, must be worn to participate in PE class. Failure to have proper clothing will affect both grade and ability to participate. In addition, all junior high students should bring hygienic items necessary for cleanliness, ie: deodorant. Gym clothes should be brought home regularly for washing. A small drawstring bag or separate grocery bag is recommended to keep these items separate from other locker items.
Music/Band Electives
Students in Grade 6-8 may elect to participate in either band or general music. Band and music are offered concurrently on Tuesday and Thursday each week throughout the school year and a numeric grade is given each quarter. Musical instruments must be brought to school for each session. Failure to do so will impact participation and grade. There are typically two out-of-school performances that constitute a portion of the students' grades during those quarters. The musical arts provide an expressive means for students to gain intellectual and developmental growth.
